In order for Restoration Church to be a gospel-centered church that exists for the glory of God and the good of the city and world, we must be a church continuously growing and practicing the spiritual discipline of prayer. Donald Whitney stated that “of all the spiritual disciplines, prayer is second only to the intake of God’s Word in importance.”

The Gospel is the foundation for prayer. It is through the atonement of Christ and our adoption as sons and daughters of the Heavenly Father that we now have the relationship and access to communion with God in prayer. As we continue to devote ourselves to prayer we will grow deeper in the Gospel and in godliness.

By experiencing the power of the Gospel in prayer we glorify God. We glorify God by taking our lives to God in prayer. We glorify God through supplication as we show our dependence upon Him and His power and will.

Glorify God occurs through being satisfied in who God is, and partaking in His mission. Following the death of Christ, prior to the church growth seen in Acts, the disciples committed themselves to prayer. Prayer precedes mission and sustains God’s people in mission. The experience of communion with God in prayer will lead to living for God.

With this in mind, we are excited about making prayer a vital part of everything we do at Restoration Church. In fact, our goal is to create a culture that is committed to prayer. Therefore, we would like to invite you to a Prayer Team Interest Meeting on Sunday, May 21. This meeting will take place immediately after the second gathering. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. We look forward to seeing you there.
